If you’ve never heard of or been to Nestldown, it’s a STUNNING venue in the mountains between Los Gatos and Santa Cruz, California. The ceremony space is surrounded by tall redwoods and there’s a long, beautiful staircase leading down to the chapel. There’s also tons of other fun things – the barn is GORGEOUS, there are fun, fairytale-esque gardens, a beautiful willow tree and sooo much more! It’s a massive venue with lots of opportunities for fun photos! I was obviously so excited when Nicola from Nicola Leigh Photography asked if I wanted to second shoot with her there.
Kira and David got ready at a hotel about fifteen minutes away from Nestldown before we all headed to the venue for their first look together in the redwoods. They’re both very chill, easy-going people who love to hike and travel together so the redwoods were the perfect setting for them to get married in. After their first look, they took some fun group photos with their wedding party before the ceremony. I highly recommend doing at least some group photos before your ceremony so you have more time for fun afterwards!
The ceremony was beautiful as it alwaaaays is at Nestldown but then I went up to take photos of the reception space and tablescape decor and you guys… I DIED. And then came back to life to take photos because it was so freaking gorgeous. I’ve been loving experimenting with light and shadows and I just had so much fun taking these detail photos. The color palette was gorgeous and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
The cocktail hour was also stunning – the Apple Knoll is a newer space at Nestldown and the outdoor chandeliers and the way the light hits everything at cocktail hour is just magical. Kira and David arrived on the train which is SO cute. And they just enjoyed and danced the night away with their friends and family. It was an amazing wedding day and I’m so happy I got to help capture it for them!
