I was so freaking excited when my friend Shannon from Sunshine Shannon Photography reached out to me and asked if I wanted to second shoot for her at Chalet View Lodge in Graeagle, California this last summer. I had never been and I knew that it was waaayyyy out there in the middle of nowhere, hours away, but I literally couldn’t say yes fast enough, it’s such a stunning venue!
Chalet View Lodge is such an incredible venue and their wedding and events team is amazing – you really can’t get a better team for your big day. On the day of Kat and Tom’s wedding, it started raining right before we were about to head out for the first look. The Chalet View Lodge event staff had to pull literally everything off the tables that they had just finished setting up. Shortly after, it stopped raining and we were able to do the first look and the staff wiped down the dance floor before quickly and efficiently set everything back up. I was just blown away with how amazing they were. It was actually pretty hot earlier that day so the rain was a strange blessing and cooled us off a little.
During the ceremony, they went to go say their vows and they realized that they had forgotten their vow books back in the room. Sunshine Shannon, being the rockstar that she is, literally sprinted across the venue back to the room to get them. The officiant told some cheesy jokes and aside from that small, humorous hiccup, it was a gorgeous ceremony! This really illustrates that you just need to go with the flow and take things as they come on your wedding day and to just have fun.
Cocktail hour was so gorgeous. There was a champagne wall set up with each guests’ names on the cutest little papers curled up on the champagne flutes. Petite Street was also there serving cute, delicious drinks to everyone all night.
The reception details were so beautiful – I’m so obsessed with all of the blues. It was just such a perfect evening, despite the fact that it had rained earlier that day. All of their friends and family really got down on the dance floor and partied hard for the rest of the night. I’m still drilling over this amazing day!
