I had so much fun helping plan Norberto and Elizabeth’s redwood picnic proposal! I had never done a picnic proposal before but I was SO stoked. All of the previous proposals I had done were at wineries or gardens in Napa Valley so this was a fun little change of pace.
We’ve all seen those pinterest-esque photos of picnic proposals on the internet. When Norberto reached out to me asking for something like that, I wanted to put a little personal touch on it for them. I asked Norberto to send me ten to fifteen of his favorite photos of them from the beginning or their relationship up until now. They met in high school and were actually staying in San Francisco for the week celebrating their ten year anniversary, so he had literally a decade of photos to choose from.
I printed the photos he sent me and clipped them to string lights that I hung from the tree above a picnic blanket with a picnic basket. I had asked him what her favorite wine was and he said rose, so I got them a bottle of Flowers Rose and put it in the basket with some beautiful flowers. They needed a way to open and enjoy the rose so next to the basket I placed a bottle opener with their now engagement date and two rose glasses – so cute!
I got to the redwoods early to set everything up and patiently waited for them to casually stroll through and stumble upon the cute picnic set up. She was so surprised and wasn’t expecting the proposal to happen in the redwoods – we love a surprise! I let them chill and enjoy the wine and soak up their new titles as FIANCES. And then we had some fun in the redwoods taking cute photos. It was the perfect surprise proposal!
