I loooove a love story that takes crossing oceans to find each other.
Christina moved from the United States to Malaysia to help open a new hotel. Somewhere along the way, she met Jun, who’s from Singapore, and together they built a life that spans countries, cultures, and continents. As a destination wedding photographer, these kinds of stories are always incredibly special to me. There’s just something so meaningful about documenting two people whose paths never should have crossed… yet somehow absolutely did.
When Christina and Jun decided to get married in Napa Valley, they wanted the day to feel intentional, relaxed, and centered around experience rather than production. Their wedding day was simple in the best way: rainy portraits in downtown Napa, a heartfelt courthouse ceremony, wine tasting through Napa Valley, and dinner downtown surrounded by the people they love most.
Honestly? It was such a perfect reminder that weddings don’t need to be huge to feel unforgettable.
The weather forecast called for rain all morning, but instead of stressing about it, Christina and Jun fully embraced it, which always makes for the best photos.
We wandered through downtown Napa with clear umbrellas, stopping along the riverfront and near the courthouse before their ceremony. The soft foggy skies, wet pavement, and muted tones gave everything such a romantic European feel. One of my favorite things about rainy wedding days is how intimate they naturally become. Couples lean into each other more. They slow down. The whole day feels quieter and more intentional.
And honestly? Napa looks so beautiful in the rain.
Their outfits fit the vibe perfectly too — Christina in a chic white bridal set with pops of color from her shoes and bouquet, and Jun in a timeless blue suit that photographed beautifully against the soft gray skies.
The Napa County Courthouse is such an underrated location for intimate weddings and elopements in Napa Valley. The downtown architecture is gorgeous, the location is walkable to downtown restaurants and tasting rooms, and it creates the perfect starting point for couples who want a wedding day that feels elevated without being overly complicated.
After their ceremony, we took a few more portraits around the courthouse steps before they headed off to celebrate the best way possible: wine tasting through Napa Valley.
One of the things I loved most about Christina and Jun’s wedding day was that it truly reflected them. No strict timeline. No pressure. Just an entire day spent together, celebrating with good wine, incredible food, and meaningful moments.
After spending the afternoon exploring Napa Valley wineries, they ended the evening at Scala Osteria (my personal favorite in Napa Valley) in downtown Napa for dinner — which felt like the perfect cozy ending to such a romantic day.
One thing I always tell couples planning an intimate wedding or elopement in Napa: build your wedding day around the experience you actually want to have. Go wine tasting. Make dinner reservations somewhere incredible. Walk around downtown. Slow down enough to actually enjoy being together.
Those are almost always the moments people remember most.
If you’re planning a courthouse wedding, elopement, or intimate wedding in Napa Valley and want photos that feel natural, emotional, and true to your relationship, I’d absolutely love to document it for you 🙂
